AISHA N. CHANEY, ESQ
Aisha Chaney graduated Summa cum laude from the School of Business and Industry at Florida A&M University in 2002. She obtained a BS degree in Business Administration and a minor in Spanish. While studying law, Aisha developed a strong desire to serve the public interest. She assisted the Center for Advancement of Human Rights with obtaining waivers for foreign nationals.
In an effort to improve her Spanish, Aisha completed a study abroad in Cuernavaca, Mexico. While there she immersed herself in the language and culture by living with a Mexican family. Upon returning to the United States Aisha clerked for the Refugee and Immigrant Center for Education and Legal Services (RAICES) in San Antonio, Texas. She assisted in representing various clients ranging from Burmese nationals obtaining asylum to Colombian nationals seeking citizenship.
Aisha expanded her legal experience by moving to Miami and completing an internship with Legal Services of Greater Miami. There, she represented indigent clients involving landlord and tenant disputes. She also assisted lead attorney in predatory lending and reverse mortgage claims.
Aisha’s final clerkship was at the Attorney General’s Office. She was assigned to the Criminal Appeals Division where she researched and filed appellate briefs on behalf of the State of Florida.
Upon graduation, Aisha prosecuted cases at the State Attorney’s office in Fort Myers, Florida. Aisha’s career in criminal defense began upon returning home to the Panhandle where she accepted a position as an Assistant Public Defender for the Second Judicial Circuit. During her term, she has handled hundreds of cases ranging from DUIs to armed robberies.
Aisha left the Public Defender’s Office to start her law firm representing people charged with crimes and helping foreign nationals navigate the complex world of immigration law. Aisha has appeared in Immigration Courts throughout Florida, Georgia, and Louisiana.
Aisha has served as an adjunct professor at Tallahassee Community College teaching law courses to undergraduate students.
Aisha is very involved in the community. She regularly provides workshops throughout the Florida panhandle to educate immigrants on their rights regarding to immigration laws.
Aisha is an avid traveler. She has traveled to eight countries with solo trips to Argentina, Mexico, Spain, and Uruguay. These experiences enable Aisha to work well with people of various nationalities.
